Weimaraner Club Of SA Inc

Introducing the Judges of the 4th
Weimaraner National
 2010
Adelaide, South Australia

Wolfgang Führing of Germany

It is a pleasure for me to be able to accept your invitation to judge at your National Weimaraner Conformation Show in April/May 2010. As is probably known, the Weimaraner in Germany is judged as a hunting dog first and foremost and then for conformation.
My qualifications as a judge are as follows:-
My involvement with the Weimaraner began in 1976. Since 1983 I have been recognised as a Judge for both Conformation and Performance and have judged a minimum of 40 Shows mainly in Germany, but also in Denmark, England and Norway which includes Retrieving Trials for all Hunting Breeds.

Breeder:- From 1976-86 I Bred eleven litters, in all 65 pups and trained one pup for hunting from each of those litters. During 1977-89 I was responsible for the German Breeding Register and held that position for 12 years.

I personally place great emphasis on healthy, sound, working dogs with an
excellent temperament and conformation.
My most recent challenge began when I became involved with a 3 year old Weimaraner dog which was totally unmanageable, to the point that euthanasia was seriously being considered by his owners. I decided to train this dog and was successful to the point of gaining highest scoring dog in conformation and retrieving. I am happy to say that following a serious injury after tackling a wild boar recently, he is recovering well.

My Kennel prefix is 'Vom Rießen',
and the word 'Rießen' was named after a large forrest near my home. My foundation bitch was from German and Czech lines and was 'Nina vom Steeg'. At the present time I am training a young bitch out of 'Cora vom Hainich' and own the stud dog 'Aron von der Galgenheide' whelped 2002. This dog has sired 51 pups from 7 litters and received the top honours in 2007 for best Sire and Progeny, that litter having been bred by Hans Hertz-Kleptow.

I am looking forward to my appointment.
With Friendly Greetings
Wolfgang Führing.

Mr Graeme Allen is our Reserve Judge for the Gundog Working Test.

Although an avid sports person, Graeme didn’t become involved with the dog world until 1992 when he joined the local dog club with his first Gundog, a Golden Retriever. He quickly became involved in dog training and achieved a Utility Title with his Goldie. Whilst at the club he became an instructor, committee member and Trial Manager. Later he ventured into Gundog Retrieving and quickly became “hooked”, training his second Goldie to a Retrieving Championship Title.

As a member of the Retrieving & Field Trial Club of SA he soon joined the committee and served as President for two years. Graeme has managed Retrieving Trials from local Trials to State Championships.

In 2001 he qualified as a Retrieving Trial Judge and has judged locally and interstate at up to All Age Level. In 2009 Graeme was appointed by SACA to Chair the Retrieving and Field Trial Advisory Committee. Because of the pleasure dog training and judging, especially in Retrieving has given him, Graeme looks forward to continuing to give something back to Retrieving through that Committee.
